Yinz goin’ dahntahn’n’at?

If you’re planning on attending the American Copy Editors Society conference March 26-29 in Pittsburgh, you might want to brush up on your Pittsburghese. Hundreds of word nerds from the newspaper, magazine, book, web, and freelance worlds will descend on the ‘Burgh to talk shop, hone our skills, network, and eat sandwiches with fries in them. Ben Zimmer of the American Dialect Society and Vocabulary.com is the keynote speaker.

I’ll be participating in a panel called “Fact-Checking for Niche Publications,” led by Rebecca Jones, copy chief at Road & Track, and Elizabeth Snodgrass, senior researcher at the National Geographic Society. You can check out the preliminary list of sessions here or just go ahead and register— you know you want to, and you’ll get the early-bird price if you register before January 31.
